Restore ipod without updating firmware
To do this, the company has rolled out a feature called AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS.
Whenever a new version of i OS is released, your i Device will download the update automatically.
This is often a more reliable way to get an i OS update immediately, sometimes i Tunes will time out during the download when an i OS update has just been released, this is probably due to server overload.
Frankly, it’s often faster to just download the update files directly from Apple since they are delivered through a CDN they tend to go at or near your maximum download speeds.
If you don’t want to continue receiving the update alert, then you need to delete the downloaded update.
Step 2: When your i Device has been connected, select the Erase All Data button then press the Erase button.
You will see a box in the next window asking you to type Delete to confirm. Step 4: After you have manually entered Delete into the box, tap the Erase Now button to wipe all data on your i Device.
On a side note, if you attempted to download an i OS update from within i Tunes and it failed, you may want to trash the file it downloaded.
You can do this by going to the IPSW file location and just deleting the file.
